#WOW a Year On

As I prepare to go to the House of Lords for the final of the NCT Star Awards (volunteer awards) tomorrow it made me remember what happened this time last year when I sat on the train back home from the event and went to check my email / twitter on my phone and I found out that I was one of the weekly Jacqueline Gold #WOW winners to have their business RT’d having previously tweeted her that the best thing about having my own business was being able to juggle work and looking after the children in half term.

Jacqueline said “@Littlesheep Teaching and learning resources for all children and particularly those with special educational needs. A fantastic biz idea!

So what else has happened in the year following my #WOW win?

2011 Mumsclub AwardWinning the #WOW RT prompted me to enter some more awards and I was delighted that in March it was announced that I had I won the Special Recognition Award in the Mumsclub Business Awards 2011. With Jane Hopkins MBE, founder of MumsClub which saying:

said:

“I was delighted to announce you as Wildcard winner. This is an additional award we  created last year for any business who we identify as a winner but didn’t quite manage to pick up a trophy. Having to pick just one winner is very frustrating because there are so many fabulous businesses but only one can win each category.

You were singled out as someone who at least one of the judges felt should be put forward for this recognition and I agreed. I think you do so much; being a mum in business is hard enough but you find time to volunteer too which says a great deal about you, as well as keeping your fabulous blog going, plus you are one of the first mums in business who I knew, back when I started mumsclub. So you’ve always been around me as mumsclub has grown and I hope that receiving this award will give you and littlesheep a well earned boost.”

Mum and Dad Blog Awards 2012And then in May I woke up one morning to find out that I was a finalist in the MADS 2012 – the MAD Blog Awards in the best Small Business Blog category which meant that I was invited to the Award Ceremony at the end of September – sadly I didn’t win but to be a finalist was a great achievement given the number of blogs that were entered into the awards.

So now the year has come full circle and this year I am shortlisted for the Most Supportive Volunteer Award at the NCT Stars tomorrow having won the West Midlands Region heat.

#WOW is the hashtag for “Women on Wednesdays” Jacqueline’s fabulous competition for business women to enter! If you are a woman in business all you have to do is follow Jacqueline and tweet her the details of your business on Wednesday from 1-3pm using the #WOW hashtag and she ‘retweets’ her favourites and then leaves a lovely personal comment about your business – why not enter tomorrow and see how your year changes?
